Presenter: James M. Lyons (Partner, Womble Bond Dickinson Honorary Irish Consul – Denver Description: The Rossman/Tymkovich Group is pleased to host James (Jim) Lyons for a discussion about his work in Northern Ireland. Jim will discuss his book: “Peace Meets the Streets – On the Ground in Northern Ireland 1993-2001.” (Available for purchase at Bookshop.org and Amazon).
Jim is a senior trial partner at the international law firm of Womble Bond Dickinson, which has offices throughout the US and the UK. Based in Denver, he specializes in complex commercial litigation. He is also well recognized as an arbitrator and mediator for both domestic and international disputes.
From 1993-2001, Jim served as President Clinton’s US Observer to the International Fund for Ireland and in 1997 was appointed by the President to succeed Senator George Mitchell as Special Advisor to the President and Secretary of State Albright for economic initiatives in Ireland. In these two roles, he coordinated US government agency programs in economic support of peace and reconciliation before and after the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. Jim holds an honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) from the University of Ulster “in recognition of his work for peace and the people of Northern Ireland.” He has been granted Irish citizenship and serves as Irish Consul (hon) in Denver.
